I have struggled with my weight since my brother commited suicide around 3 years ago.

I have gained around 111 pounds in 3 years. About 3 months ago I did a BMI measurement, the result said I was obese. I hated the word obese and decided I had to do something about it. I have started exercising and eating healthier.

In 3 months I have lost 25 pounds. I want to weigh about 158 pounds. I have a really big frame so it's different for me comperred to girls who have tiny shoulders and bones. I am still trying to lose weight but I am struggling as I have been good but I keep gaining weight and I get upset so I start to eat bad food.

I would really love to have someone to talk to during this stage in my life.

I'm on my highschool ballroom team and my first competition is in a little less than 2 weeks.

I just got this amazing dress for it and it looks amazing. It is skin tight and I'm afraid that when I am done dancing I will not be able to breath in it.

I find that my biggest problem of fitting in the dress is that my ribs stick out to much. I mean, it's like I have 2 more boobs! I dont really know why... but anyways I would like to lose 5-10 pounds by then if posible or just do somthing about my huge ribs.

I think I am way overweight. I am about 5'4"-5'5" and weigh 148 pounds. I am kind of athletic, but just recently I quit track, so now I have a very low self esteem also.

When I go to the mall, I try things on but I never actually get them because I think I look enormously fat in it. I try to lose weight, like one of those things saying lose 20 pounds in 3 weeks kind of diets, but they all cost money, and I can't afford them.

When I try to lose weight, life always gets in the way.

My friends are all like 80 pounds, except for one whose 115, which is perfectly normal. I practically hate myself from being overweight. I used to be 124 pounds last summer, and I loved it.

But I gained over 20 pounds this year, and I feel horrible. I don't even know how it happened. Could anyone help? I jog and stuff, but it never seems to help, so I give up on it. AIM me at maree914 if you can help!

I have lots of friends and there all thinner than I am sometimes it does hurt when I see them sharing clothes that I cant fit into but then again I see how there always bringing themselves down that’s 1 thing I don’t do. Just wanted to say how I have had success losing weight. I drink a ton of water everyday.. Probably a little over a gallon a day! I do 25-50 pushups, 100-200 crunchers, 60 reps with a long dumb-bell curl bar, and I run up and down my staircase maybe 10-12 times. I have lost almost 25 pounds now! from 310 to 288!! ‘m very happy with how things are going so far.

Hey every one my name is Rachel and I hopefully will be able to help all of ya'll (or most)! I have experience with losing weight quickly. First of all. I think it's horrible how ya'll's family and schoolmates say bad things about ya'll! its horrible!

Anyways, there was this swimming party and I weighed 115 and I was 5'1". Now I know that doesn’t seem like a lot... but it is and I had fat around my tummy waist and thighs and I HATED it.

I went on a plan with at least 5 glasses of water a day, 20 carbs a day, 1,500 calories a day, some fruits and some vegetables and working out mostly everyday. This helped me lose a pound EVERY DAY.

For girls... this is how we lose weight... we diet for 5 days and on the 5th day you loose 5 pounds ( I’m not sure how guys work sry :( ). Anyways I did that and I now weigh 108 and I still want to lose more weight and I’m still on a diet but it was enough for that swimming party and I decided to wear a bikini and I looked great! (I know I did).

Now I don’t think u should punish yourself if u go over a little of 20 carbs a day or more than 1,500 calories that’s fine. What I did if I cheated I just worked out a little bit harder the next day. But if u do this plan u need to absolutely want this more than anything else and not cheat AT ALL! If u do don’t expect to lose weight cause u won't cause if ur dieting for 5 days and then u have a big huge piece of cake u hafta... then start over. So be determined! Don’t cheat! Drink lots of water and exercise. I promise you'll see results! Good luck to you all! ~Rachel :)

PS. For morning -- every day I had scrambled eggs with a piece of rye bread toast. And for lunch everyday I had tuna or chicken with fruit (yummy) good luck!

I am in a high school marching/concert band which takes up 75% of my time. I also have a part-time job as a waitress.

Hey! I'm from a little tiny town in WI and everything you have said I can relate to. I am 13 and weigh 180 and am trying to lose weight. Just a little advice for those who are not sure if they are overweight: use a search engine and type in "BMI Calculator" this will give u your results and tell you if have a safe weight are at risk of being overweight or obese which is the state I am in right now.

For everyone who comes to this site and reads this message please before you do anything that might jeopardize your life think, Is this really worth ending my life over? and if not why did you even think this could be a solution to your problem?

Anyone who has problems with unhealthy weight gain try to find the source of this problem and work it out with someone.

I was never really skinny but after I was sexually assaulted by someone I trusted I started to gain weight extremely and dangerously.

Ever since the incident I have been skeptical about everyone around me and so losing weight is what I am doing now to make things as normal as possible like before the incident. Just remember whatever the cause of your weight gain make sure when you diet you are doing it for yourself and not for those who tease you or call you names. IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU!

I dance at least 4 nights a week for about 8-11 hours and I can't even lose 5 pounds!! Hey, I’m Sarah. I’ve been having problems with my weight since I was in grade 5. I now weight 170 and I’m dieting to loose 50 pound before high school. Well I was always identified as a chubby kid starting in about 1st grade. Right now I am about 5'5"(6"?) and about 200 lbs. I'm pretty well proportioned, its just that I have TOO much to proportion.

I used to get teased but as I got into middle school I would ignore it or snap back with a clever comment, and now that I am in high school, the only person that gives me a hard time about my weigh is me! I make fun of myself just to make myself feel better but my friends don't like it. They think I am fine and don't look at me as being fat.

From the looks of it, not more than 20% percent of the people on here are "fat". It sounds to me like half of you just want to loose "beauty" pounds. It kinda makes me sick. It's one thing to want to loose weight b/c of health, but it's another to want to look good for some guy or b/c you have a pair of pants you just HAVE TO fit into. Loose weigh for the good of yourself, not for your pants or someone that’s just going to treat you different b/c your stomach is smaller.

I've gone on diets to impress people before and in the long run, the diet will not work for you if your not doing it for yourself. Trust me, I'm saying this out of experience.

First of all, no matter how much weight you want to lose, losing weight is NOT going to be easy. It takes a lot of effort, dedication and work.

If you really want to lose weight, you have to make it a top priority. For example, don't think its OK to eat fast food because your best friend wants to do it with you. There is no such thing as excuses to your body, only your mind. And well, as you know, it’s not your mind that is fat, it’s your body.

There is plenty of dieting and exercise guides all over the internet, most of them got it right: Balance your diet, eat less calories than you spend daily (but do not go below a reasonable amount of calories, or your body will think it needs to store everything it possibly can). Drink a lot of water and exercise!

There are 2 types of exercises that you would want to do, Aerobic and Weight Training.

Aerobic training, such as jogging, is any exercise that elevates your heart rate for a certain amount of time, usually 30-40 minutes is enough. That is one of the most important factors in weight loss.

As for Weight training, that is simply lifting weights and such to build muscle mass. And no I am not talking about necessarily building a muscular physique, since most girls don’t want to have huge biceps and look like a guy. But you have to have muscles in your body; they take much more energy (calories) to maintain, so you will be spending more calories a day just sitting around if you have more muscle than fat.

Also, if you are on a low calorie diet, you might lose some muscle with the fat you are losing because your body is not getting enough energy, weight lifting will help you keep your muscle up a lot.

Stay active! Even if you do exercise, pick up a hobby that keeps you active, such as a sport, dancing, and hiking.

Hello everyone! I am an overweight teenager. I feel so uncomfortable in my own body at times. My friends say that I am a pretty young lady for my size. Truth is I do not feel pretty. Not to mention all of my friends are lean. I laugh my sorrow away but in the end I still feel like the overweight teen that I am.

When my Mom was diagnosed with diabetes I wanted to help myself so I would not have to go through what she has to go through day in and day out.

I have made up my mind that I am starting over my life as far as losing weight. I began to drink more water and my friends and I workout in the gym every morning before school starts. As others stated on this page -- you do need to be patient, losing weight will not happen overnight. I am starting a goal to lose at least 10 pounds. Not for anyone -- just for myself. We are all important and wonderful people Big or Small.

We shall lose weight not for our peers, parents, crushes or boyfriends etc. We should do this for ourselves, so we all can live a long and healthy life. Everyone be safe and continue the good work!

Tessa, you asked earlier about how to stop eating when you are full. I have some advice for you, which has worked out very well with me.

When you are eating dinner, don't stop when you are full. Instead stop eating when you just aren't starving anymore. As soon as you feel like you're not full, but you're not hungry either, stop. And never eat when you aren't hungry. Because then, if you do, then it'll just keep on becoming habit.

And about the couch potato thing. Well, I can't really give you any advice from experience, but I CAN give you some advice based on common sense if you're having trouble being a couch potato.

1) Watch less TV. Make room in your day for your absolute favorite shows, but try not to watch any more than 3 or 4 a day. During the commercial breaks, go ahead and take a walk around the house. While watching a show, try doing some small exercises at the same time.

2) While watching TV, KEEP ALL FOOD AWAY FROM YOU AT A 5 FOOT RADIUS!!! (okay, maybe 4...or 3...*laughs*). Eating or snacking while concentrating on something else is the absolute WORST thing for your diet. So keep all food - even if it IS healthy - AWAY from you while watching TV or reading or whatever.

I can't really think of anything else at the moment, so go ahead and try out these ideas. That doesn't just go for you, Tessa; it goes for anyone else that happens to read this, too!

I’m really tired of feeling like I look thin, going to the mall with friends, seeing that they are all skinnier than me, and then coming home to realize that I’m fat. Currently I am the biggest I’ve ever been.

Towards the end of the summer I was looking pretty good. I had a good work out going on at home, and I felt really great about myself. Then I started to not workout every night. Then only once or twice a week, and then I just stopped. I have no idea wut happened. I thought about starting it up again before I read this other site that said that doing sit-ups can actually make you gain weight. So for about 2 months I didn't do anything. And now, being the biggest I’ve ever been, I’m determined to start again.

All I can say is don't give up. Even if you read something on a other website written by some other guy, like I did, don’t give up!!! The best thing u can do is get a good routine going.

I am starting over tonight, because I’m determined to look good when I go to New York this summer. Ok, I am NOT a teenager, but I used to be a fat teenager, filling my diary with things y'all are saying. I HATED myself. I still lack confidence and yet people say I'm skinny and so pretty.

Thing is, the route u are going down is an ED. I suffered from bulimia (hardcore) for 2 years. Drugs and a shrink have help me beat it, but even though I wear a size 4 I will never be thin enough -- and that's what I think will happen to some of you guys if you don't learn to love yourselves before it's too late.

Eat healthy and exercise, but DON'T use silly stackers or whatever. I found this website by searching for "teenager recipes" in hope I cud find slimming ones. I was shocked by this site and so many of you who hate themselves. I know fat HAPPY people. It’s not your weight that will make you happy, it's your attitude.

Hey Liz... Hey I'm 13 and the doctor said I weigh 105, but my boyfriend (who I love very much and who loves me very much as well) and my friends say I don't weigh 105.

I recently told my boyfriend that I though I was fat and that I wanted to lose some weight, but didn't know how much. He told me that he liked the way I looked and he didn't want me to lose more than a couple of pounds.

My friends and I are really close and we tell each other everything. They told me that I wasn't fat. But I still would like to turn some of my fat into muscle.

Here is some advice for some teens. Ask yourself, Am I happy about the way I look or do I want to lose weight just because people tell me I'm fat? If you are happy about the way you look then everything is fine, but if people tease you then just tell them that you don't care what they say and you like the way you look. I am okay to go on a diet, but do it for you not other people.

I play volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis at school. Someday after school I go for a run or sometimes, my boyfriend and I go for a walk together (since he lives no more than a half a mile down the street). We talk and laugh and just have a good time. Sometimes I walk with my best friend (she lives next door to me).

Do me a favor and don't take pills or become bulimic or anorexic. There is a better way to lose weight than those things. I really hope I help someone.

Ok, I just want to touch on a few things... someone stated earlier that you should eat only 3 meals a day to lose weight. This is very wrong -- lol - it is best that you eat around 6 or 7 small meals a day spread out (I don't mean huge portions, very small).

Also, don't eat past 7:30 at night. Another thing I want to say, all of you saying you eat because you’re stressed, you need to find a better way to alleviate your stress, exercising is a very good way. I think you’ll find that the harder you try at working out, the more you can feel the stress basically just fuming out of you hah. Now to talk about good foods to eat.

Try and eat raw foods. No I don’t mean uncooked, am talking about unprocessed food. This means no more junk food. These include: egg whites, brown rice, salad (w/ vinaigrette dressing), salmon, fruits, and veggies. Herbal teas are really perfect, they cleanse the system (try green or chamomile tea).

Guess what? It is proven that teens who eat 3-4 servings of dairy per day have less fat around their mid-section than those who do not. You don’t have to give up pizza... as long as you can go ahead and make the pizza at your home... load it with veggies and small slivers of fresh mozzarella and if you’re have cookie cravings, reach for the biscotti’s, they’re the best for you.

DRINK WATER! Drink as much as you can water is the best thing for you. Get out there and exercise... that’s the number one thing, you can’t lose weight unless you burn more calories than you take in.

Remember to set reasonable goals for yourself that you can actually meet. OK, well that’s a bunch of random helpers -- hah -- and don’t worry… I know what I am talking about because am a health nut who battled with both anorexia and bulimia. But I found alternate solutions and am much happier and happy with my body and it feels great to be thought of by others as attractive and knowing I worked hard for it once you start seeing results don’t stop continue exercising and stay healthy.

OK, one last thing I want to say, the whole looks don’t matter a thing that’s not really true... you can't like someone if you aren’t at least a little attracted to them but don’t worry there’s good news... everyone is attracted to different people and one person could think someone is ugly and another could think that person is totally gorgeous.

I was reading the comments made by other girls and I feel bad that you are tormented by others because I go through the same thing at school.

But after 4 years of dealing with it -- day to day -- I learned to laugh it off and even make fun of myself sometimes which helps because it makes others think that it doesn't bother me so they know it won't phase me when they are trying to be spiteful.

I am 220 lbs. That’s a lot on a 5'3" frame but I still manage a lot of boyfriends without degrading myself, which I see a lot of overweight girls do (to get attention from boys).

Hey girls! When I finished reading all of your entries, it made me feel kind of sad to know that most of you are being teased about your appearance and what your body figure is : (

I am 13, weigh about 124 lbs, and am 5' 5". I know it might seem that I'm not chubby or anything, but I am. Up until the middle of 4th grade I used to be skinny. Then stress overwhelmed me & I started to gain weight.

In 5th & 6th grade, skinny kids (& even one girl who was chubbier than me) started teasing me about it. In 7th grade, I finally got so feed up that I wanted to do something about it.

Everyday for lunch I would get a turkey, lettuce, & cheese wrap, which was good. But then I switched schools & they didn’t have that kind of lunch food. Switching schools was good for me, though, because kids didn't make fun of me for looking different. Now, I'm in 8th grade & have taking loosing weight VERY seriously. I'm not sure how much I weighed at the beginning of the year, but in February, I weighed 130 lbs & now @ the beginning of March, I weigh 124 : )

I think my weight is fine since I'm so tall (compared to the other girls in my grade), but I want to loose the extra flab in my stomach & get rid of the cellulite in my legs (yes, I unfortunately have cellulite).

And for you girls who are trying to loose wait, I know everyone says this, but KEEP ON TRYING & DON"T GIVE UP!!! I also have some advice for you: drink LOTS of water, because your body needs it to stay healthy & wash out toxins & toxins can make you gain weight. Exercise as MUCH as you can! Even if it's just twiddling your thumbs, sorting paper, etc., it's ALL exercise! The best kind, though, is walking, running, dancing, etc. Good luck everyone!! And remember, DON'T TRY ANYTHING DANGEROUS!!! I tried diet pills/patches & they DIDN'T WORK! I even tried one that made me start shaking for about 5 hours!.

Be yourself, don't change for anyone but you, and have fun with trying to loose your weight. Another technique I read about in a magazine is to write down your goal & put it on your bathroom mirror or something. Then, when you walk in there, you see it & soon enough it triggers your brain to do that. Also, weigh yourself at least once a day, because that triggers your brain, too!!

Hi everyone... I just finished reading all of your comments and questions and I am depressed to see that we all have the same problem at hand: our appearance.

I find that society today is pressuring girls at our age to "look, dress and act" a certain way. I think it’s great that we want to feel good about ourselves but you have to ask yourself this question "why do I want to do loose weight?" Is it because you want a boyfriend or to meet someone else’s standards? You should only make such a decision for yourself.

I am 5'6 and I weigh about 140 pounds. Don’t get me wrong... I want to loose 10 pounds by Spring Break, but while I was reading everyone’s articles, I was comforted by how many girls feel the same way I do.

I honestly think that as young women across the world, we need to love ourselves and be healthy. I don’t want my daughter to live in a society where she is constantly comparing herself to models or even her peers.

We need to stand together as females and beat the magazine covers and just be happy with us. Happiness is the true secret to life. Not the way people see us.

I admire each and every one of you and I know that we all have something great about ourselves. Bottom line: LETS WORK TOGETHER TO BEAT SOCIETY! WE SHOULD LOVE OUR SELVES AND EACHOTHER AND FIND INTERNAL HAPPINESS.

Alright, I am going to be 14 in three months, but I weigh 170, I have been trying to start a diet, but snacking and acting like as a couch-potato are addictions (just like drugs) that are hard to get off of. I have not yet lost more than 5 pounds, but already I have both advice and questions.

My advice is that joining in on games at school is great, I honestly hate sports, and I don't like to play them because I get so embarrassed because I sweat easily. But, in my Health Class I join in when the others play "Ultimate Football", and similar things, this has helped a lot, and as long as I don't work myself too hard, I don't sweat too much.

Walking is my favorite sport because it's easy and fun, and it gives me time to daydream and think... Also, small portions of food help.

My question is... does anyone have any good advice on how to stop snacking and acting like a couch-potato? And when you're so addicted to food, you don't know when you're full. So how do you know when to stop eating?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give u some advice on the key on how to lose weight. This is going to annoy you... but its patience! First off, its hurts your body to lose so much weight in a small amount of time… so don’t even think about it (that means no starving yourself or going on crazy diets that say "lose 30 pounds in a week"). A good diet to go on is:

BREAKFAST: A piece of toast with peanut butter and an orange.
LUNCH: Meat sandwich (example turkey), cheese or yogurt, fruit.
DINNER: Meat, chicken or fish, etc, lots of veggies and rice is good.

Make sure u drink lots of water throughout the day!

Also, don’t eat bread at night. If u binge one day, just workout the next day and go straight back on the diet. After 4 weeks I found I was losing around 6 pounds a week! This made me really happy and I felt a lot better about myself because I got a lot of compliments. After doing this healthy dieting, I lost 87 pounds by the end of the year which I actually started at the beginning of it. Last year I weighed 230 pounds and now I weigh 140!! Patience got me to where I am now. Here are some quotes that helped me through..."Don’t live to eat, but eat to live." Starvation, depression, hatred and death are the only outcomes of eating disorders. I have not heard of anyone who lived a happy life by starving themselves. A quote by me - "Losing weight is the lock that can only be opened by the right key (patience)."

Hey everybody, I have a problem! I play volleyball, and am very into and serious about it, but my coach, says that we have to all go on a diet, or as she says "a nutrition plan." she says that we need to be more focused on our physical fitness, and that we need to watch our weight, and maintain a healthy one.

She says that we need to take this team serious, and put our all into it. She also says that if we can't maintain the diet and exercise plan she's set out for us, we can quit the team now... before we really get into the season. I have always had trouble w/diets, and constantly struggle w/them. I’m not really overweight, only maybe about 5 (at the absolute most) 10 lbs. But she still pushes us super hard. She pulled me aside at practice tonight and told me, that if I mess up on the "plan" again, even though I’m the best player, she'll be forced to knock me off.

I was soooo mad, and I still, as I sit here in tears, cannot believe that she said that! Can you? I don't know what to do??? Volleyball is my LIFE!!!. I don't know what I would do w/out it. Does anybody have any advice? if so please share!!!

As much as I hate to say it, weight and eating problems are all part of growing up. They start with hormones and usually end with them too. When I was 15 I was over weight and tried all the 'instant weight loss' techniques that only make you fatter. When high school broke up for the summer and I knew I'd be going back to college, it was just me. No pressure from skinny friends, no sneering family, no rude passer by's in the streets yelling unflattering comments. After a few weeks I realized the fatty foods I ate were only compensate for the way people made me feel, and these foods I ate made me feel worse! You know chocolate is the worlds greatest depressant? You eat it then feel guilty. I found when I started eating healthy, I felt better about myself, and that gave me the energy to get up and move. I lost four stone over the summer holidays, more than I ever lost with Anorexia, Bulimia and Atkins put together!

Hey, if anyone is listening, please, I really need some advice. My name is Madyson and I weigh 124 lbs. I am 12 years old and 5'1". My friends constantly tell me that I am so pretty, talented and definitely not fat. They say it so often, it's become more like a statement, rather than advice but & I just don't believe them anymore. I have tried anorexia and am currently still struggling with that. I also have some issues with cutting like Amber from California, only I am still messing with my issues involving that. I constantly am obsessing with the way I look, and not really ever enjoying the moment, b/c I am afraid someone will comment on the way my legs look, etc. I feel confident when wearing a bikini, but covering up my legs, and I know it seems like I don't really have an excuse to be upset about my weight, and I probably don't, but I still feel insecure and hurt myself in most ways possible. I hate going to school on Monday’s b/c I dread fitness testing in gym. I really like this guy, Dan, and he likes me too, but sometimes I feel like he won't ask me out, b/c of my weight. He used to call me names, like fat cow, etc. (I know that it may seem crazy that I like him, but whenever he calls me names he's just messing around, but yes I do know it's still wrong). But whenever someone else would call me names he would hunt them down and let them know that their comments weren't appreciated. But still I hate myself so much sometimes. I cry almost every night for like 3 hours or until I fall asleep. My parents don't know of the way I feel, and believe me if I told them they would knock my head off (my sister is on the verge of being obese and they said that she is their prime concern right know, so I should just be happy the way I am). I have gone to therapy b/c of extreme anxiety attacks due to my lack of self-confidence and belief that I’m fine just the way I am. Oh!!!! Obesity is nothing new, but with the media now focused more on being thin and new diets, than just living and being happy. We tend to concentrate and worry about our weight. It will eat you alive. Living all over I can tell you it is not only a problem in America. I myself became bulimic when I was just 13. I was an underweight child but when I hit 11 and 12… I began doing drugs and other things that lead to over eating or starvation. I became bigger and bigger till it was just too much. Everyone around me was fit and skinny, I just wanted to die. I got down to 85 pounds, and I am five foot seven, so you can image how unhealthy I was. I was sick all ALL the time, couldn't use the restroom without help. I am now in a treatment center and doing much better. I just wanted to say that no matter what people say, you should be happy with who you are. The price I will have to pay for things I have done to my body in the past will last forever. I will never be able to seek childhood dreams, but now create new ones. I hope I can teach girls that are my age and even younger, it really isn't worth it.

Hi... like most teens girls, I am very worried about my weight. I have tried almost everything... I have stopped eating, became bulimic, anorexics, you name it! I've done it all (and I’m only 13). But I'm always the one in the group that tries to act tough and won’t let any one else see me cry. I have gone through life as if there was no tomorrow and acted as if I got away with it was OK. A couple years ago (way back in 2003) my best friend caught me trying to kill myself (I mean slitting my wrists) and talked to me, she tried so hard to not let things get me down and tried not to let me be depressed any more. She was always a positive person and she was always there for me. So after a while, I stopped cutting and burning. But I still do it every now and then but mainly (really...) I am a normal person and I'm not as weird as I was before.

Being a teenager is hard and if you are overweight it is even harder. I am and I hate it! I don't talk about it with my friends or family and it hurts b/c I feel like if I do they will look at me differently. I did an experiment once and found that I only consume about 600 calories a day and yet I am still largely overweight. Don't turn to diet pills, patches or liquid diets and whatever you do DON'T STOP EATING!! Your body will go into shock and when you do eat it will store every bit of left over energy in emergency reserves, or fat. Eat like six small meals a day and be patient, weight loss doesn't happen overnight. A good diet to try is the Zone diet, it's all about balance and I lost a good amount of weight on it. Keep a positive outlook; don't weigh yourself in the evening or more than twice a week and you will be fine! Good luck to you all!

I know how some people feel sometimes because I am big too and I hate being big, so I ask my mom and friends to encourage me to help me to lose weight. But the ways I think that teens can lose weight is by eating only eat 3 meals a day, don't eat 4 or 5 meals! Don't eat snacks or in between meals, you should always have courage for yourself. NEVER down yourself or become anxious, because if you do -- you won't lose weight and at this age you shouldn't take PILLS. Please don't because you can really hurt yourself. Hey every 1, hope you all read this… some people have some really encouraging words and there are also some really good tips too. I don’t really want to share my weight, but I can relate to how you feel about being overweight. I want to lose weight, because I weigh a lot, but I don’t know how to lose it. People are concerned am becoming anorexic, but I don’t want to eat anymore. I still eat sometimes because I am forced to, but I’ve lost interest in food. So… for those of you who are trying to lose weight, don’t just stop eating, it’s not the answer at all. You are better off eating healthily and exercising. Set a goal and stick to it. Don’t give up… But don’t be obsessive over your weight, weight doesn’t matter, or at least it shouldn’t. Not everyone is gonna look like a model and a lot of those pictures are fake. And all you girls who think a guy will only like you if you are skinny, don’t. If a guy only likes you because of your looks, then you don’t need him. THERE IS MORE TO LOVE THAN LOOKS… and even though you might want that really gorgeous guy right now, wait for the one who will actually like/love you for you. Those are the guys that are actually worth your time. The rest are all just heartbreakers who want you for all the WRONG REASONS! Everyone is beautiful in their own way and just because you are fat or you have glasses or have freckles, or don’t have the blond hair and blue eyes, doesn’t mean you are not beautiful! Don’t try to be like the "perfect" models. BE YOU, because that’s who you are meant to be and that’s who you are BEST at being. Don’t stress over your weight, that’s not who you are. And for those of you who feel you need to be skinny in order for guys to like you, wait for the one who will like you for who you are. Trust me, you'll realize he was worth the wait! Everybody’s different, no body’s the same. Never forget what makes you, YOU… and never be afraid to show the real you. Because the real you is the only you.

Hey everyone, my name is Amber and I'm 15, in the beginning of the summer of 2004 I weighed 190lbs... OMG right! I now weigh 130lbs. I lost my weight by not eating. I starved myself for months, and I'm writing to say that that is not the answer. My hair started falling out and I was very depressed and it hurt really badly. I would not eat, and then decide to splurge and gain up to 10lbs in one day. I know you worry about you weight and even cry sometimes, but all of you are beautiful. Be nice to your body; don't make the same mistake I did. When it got out of control my mom sent me to a Nutritionist and she taught me about healthy eating and exercising. I used to hate running, I think every overweight person does, but I have come to the conclusion that that is the only way to lose weight. Tough it out, when you're running, just think, do I want to be fat for the rest of my life, or do I want to suffer running for an hour and be skinny. You will love the results. Have faith in yourselves, that's the key, and I know it sounds cheesy, but it's what's inside that counts. I didn't think I could do it, but I did, you can do it too.

Hey everyone, I am 16 years old and weigh about 170 pounds. 2 years ago I weighed 145 and I was 5'5 then (I’m still 5'5 now). Everyone (even my own family) used to tell me I was overweight (I knew that) even though it wasn’t that bad, but I still did let it get to me and gained the weight. And now, I realized 145 that’s actually a perfect weight… maybe if I would have lost about 10 pounds they would have been happy. I should have just realized what was a normal weight and what was not, but I wasn’t aware of it. All my friends say they weigh somewhere in between 100-120 pounds… well OK. Hey Girls! I want you all to know about one of the girls at my school. I have changed her name for her sake, I am going to call her Crystal. Crystal was a thin framed girl, but was a little bit curvy. She decided that she was fat, although she wasn’t. She went on a "diet" but what it really was, was anorexia. She lost tons of pounds and had to be hospitalized. Luckily, she didn’t die. Anorexia/Bulimia is a big deal. Don’t think "oh that could never happen to me" because believe Crystal when she has said "I lost control." So please, take Crystals advice, and remember that The Teen Help Desk is here to help you diet safely. And remember, Don’t use any of those "lost 20 pounds in 2 days" pills or whatever. They can be extremely dangerous.
